About

Priya Sharma was enrolled with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in January 2014 under enrolment number MAH/12345/2014. She has appeared as counsel before the Bombay High Court, the Family Courts at Bandra and Pune, and the Sessions Courts of Greater Mumbai in matrimonial, custody, and domestic-violence matters. Her practice is built around three threads: • Matrimonial litigation under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 and the Special Marriage Act, 1954 — including divorce, judicial separation, restitution of conjugal rights, and inter-State / NRI matrimonial disputes; • Child welfare proceedings — custody and guardianship under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890 and the Hindu Minority and Guardianship Act, 1956; visitation and inter-parental arrangements; and inter-country custody matters; • Protection of women — proceedings under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, dowry-related complaints under Section 498A of the IPC (now Section 84 of the BNS), and maintenance applications under Section 125 of the CrPC (now Section 144 of the BNSS). Beyond litigation, Priya advises on pre-nuptial planning, family-business succession, and cross-border guardianship arrangements for non-resident families. She holds an LL.M. (Family Law) from the University of Mumbai (2014) and a B.A. LL.B. from the Government Law College, Mumbai (2012). She is empanelled as Pro Bono Counsel with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority and serves on the editorial board of the Indian Family Law Review.

Divorce, judicial separation, restitution of conjugal rights, maintenance under §125 CrPC and personal-law statutes, child custody under the Guardians and Wards Act and HMG Act, and protection orders under the PWDV Act, 2005. I also advise on pre-nuptial planning and cross-border / NRI matrimonial disputes.
  • Which courts do you regularly appear before?+
The Bombay High Court (Original and Appellate Side), Family Courts at Bandra and Pune, and Sessions Courts of Greater Mumbai for §498A IPC / §84 BNS matters. I am also enrolled to appear before the Supreme Court of India on matters certified by Sr. Advocates.
  • Do you accept first consultations through Askadvocates.in?+
Yes. The first 15-minute video consultation is free for matters that fall within my areas of practice. After the first meeting, fees are discussed privately and an engagement letter is signed before any work begins.
  • Do you take pro bono matters?+
I take a limited number of pro bono matters on merit each year through DSLSA empanelment and via the Sakhi One-Stop Centre. Please contact the organisations directly for those streams; private requests are evaluated case by case.
  • Can you assist with NRI / inter-country matters?+
Yes. A meaningful share of my practice is inter-country custody and matrimonial — including Hague Convention non-signatory issues for India. Consultations can be conducted by video.
  • In what languages can the consultation be conducted?+
    English, Hindi, and Marathi.
