1. Who we are
Askadvocates.in ("Askadvocates", "we", "us") is operated by Recep Karaca, an independent operator, and provides a directory and informational platform for users seeking legal information and for advocates enrolled with State Bar Councils of India. We operate strictly within the carve-out to Rule 36 of the Bar Council of India Rules (2008 amendment).
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a user account. To create an advocate account, you must be enrolled with a State Bar Council and able to produce your Sanad and a valid government photo ID.
3. What Askadvocates is — and is not
- We are a directory: advocates list factual information about themselves.
- We are an informational platform: we host paid Q&A in which advocates respond to user questions.
- We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice.
- We are not an advertising platform on behalf of any advocate.
- We do not guarantee outcomes of any consultation, Q&A, or matter.
4. The advocate–client relationship
Use of this platform does not by itself create an advocate–client relationship. Any such relationship is formed (if at all) directly between the user and the advocate, typically by way of an engagement letter executed at the time of consultation booking.
5. Paid Q&A
When a user purchases a paid Q&A tier, the user is paying the platform for an information service. The platform then routes the question to a verified advocate, who provides a written response. Service-level commitments (24h / 6h / 1h) are best-efforts and not guaranteed; refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
6. Bookings and consultations
When a user books a video, phone, or in-person consultation, the platform facilitates scheduling and payment. The user pays the advocate's professional fee directly to the advocate (via Razorpay Route), and pays a separate flat service fee of ₹100 to the platform for the booking and consultation technology. Engagement-letter terms, agreed between user and advocate, govern the legal relationship.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the platform to:
- Solicit work or advertise for any advocate (including yourself).
- Post content that violates Indian law.
- Misrepresent identity, qualifications, or bar enrolment.
- Scrape, copy, or republish profile data beyond personal use.
- Attempt to compromise platform security.
8. Intellectual property
Content authored by you (questions, articles, profile copy) remains yours; you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and translate it on the platform. Our brand marks, design, and software are ours.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to this platform is limited to the amount you paid to the platform in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate any account for violation of these terms, for misconduct, or where required by law or by the Bar Council of India.
11. Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email and in your dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect.
